These extravagant blooms look fabulous when they're out, adorable when they fade and also offer rich, verdant foliage - that ticks enough boxes for me! And don't these ones look divine spilling over and through the fence? Perfection.

belle fleurs

I am also having a craving for hydrangea, well two actually. I think they will go beautifully against the verandah wall of our 1930s house. You know you can just break a bit off and stick it in the ground to grow? And I remember something about the lime content in the soil being the thing that makes them one colour or another...or something!

ReplyDeleteI had also heard that the acidity of the soil is what determines the color of the hydrangea. I think the flower swap is an excellent idea!

I love them also and grew them successfully at our old house - a federation semi - just was beautiful. I love that you can change the colours too with the kits you can get from the nursery these days!

ReplyDeleteLove, love hydrangeas but our garden gets a great deal of sun and I believe they actually prefer a shady spot. Am somewhat concerned I may fry them!
