our daily bread

This here's the bread we kneaded in the KitchenAid and baked in a rather snazzy tupperware silicone loaf tin. It was uber-delicious and, as you can see, one young chef was rather chuffed at the results. I found the recipe on the KitchenAid site, they promised a crusty white loaf and we received a crusty white loaf. Straight out of the oven with a smear of butter it was delicious. Toasted for breakfast this morning and topped with butter and black cherry jam it was also delicious. Remind me to do this again sometime {not in the least because it called for 2 and a half tablespoons of milk powder - which only comes in one kilo bags. Any recipes calling for milk powder or shall I just do a Cleopatra. Hmmmmm?}

  1. that does look yum, and normally bread machine recipes call for milk powder & that's all I use the milk powder for aswell.

    p.s not happy with survivor last night :(

  2. A-ha, now I know about the whole milk powder situation.

    So utterly beside myself about Survivor that I can barely bring myself to speak. I do now have a sneaking admiration for Russell though - he is an evil genius!

  3. Wow! How good does that bread look! Can you believe I have a brand new bread maker sitting in the cupboard - never been used!! About time I got it out. Inspired by your results :)

  4. I know! My first-ever real bread baking {I've made foccacia and soda bread and flat bread - but not normal bread!} So yummy - go on, get out the breadmaker!

  5. ..nope, no admiration there, hope he gets further just so we can watch him & his 'quest for world domination' but then get thrown out just before the final few.

  6. I have a bread machine but rarely use it. Oven-baked is just sooo much better. I think you should bathe in the milk powder and report back on how icky it truly is! :-)

    Have not been watching Survivor this time around - though I do wonder if Russell learned his lesson last time around. He'll be stuck with the $100K again if he hasn't.

    And Cathie, you're right. I'm just trying to deal with the fact that Rob's gone. Sob.
