sweet sunday and adios school holidays

Wow, it's the final day of the school holidays - eep! And tomorrow my gal starts high school - double eep! So today will be spent lazing around the pool {and hopefully washing out the last of the hot pink dip-dye on the ends of her hair so I don't have to cut it off}.

I've got a washing line full of random pillowcases today. After yesterday's linen closet revamp thanks to yesterday's post, I realised that every time I threw out old sheets when they tore I kept the pillowcases. So there are 16 pillowcases on the line {can anyone say Hoarder} and two sheet sets that are also going to the Salvos. I realised that yes, you can have too many spare sets of sheets. Should I need to bed down an extra 10 people I could always ask them to bring a sleeping bag couldn't I?

Enjoy your Sunday and wish me luck for tomorrow. I'll be the one with the brave face, who'll be sobbing in the car on the way home after the drop-off!

  1. I dropped and ran! My anxiety levels last Sunday night/Monday morning were terrifying!

And Boy 1 is better if I don't hang around and cater to his emotional sensitivity.

Hard to see them grow up, isn't it.

As for the photo - I WANT it! Pool plans in next 2 years, and I want a cabana like that one!

    1. Oh MM, I know what you mean - glad you got through it all okay.

Oh do the pool, and the cabana, we've never regretted ours for a minute. x

  2. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. I remember dropping Jess off on her first day to a new high school where she didn't know a soul. It broke my heart but she met her very best friend that day. It gets better with time :))

    1. Thanks Kerry, luckily she's going to this school with the vast majority from her primary school - but is going from 220 students in the whole school to the same amount in year 7! x

  6. Knowing your girl she will embrace every moment. What will be hard will be trying to put on that brave face as you watch her grow. She's a beauty ! You must be soooo proud! x G

    1. Thanks G, seems like yesterday we walked her up the road to primary school! Just snipped the last of the pink ends of her hair and she's ready to take it all on. I am so very proud of her - she's certainly something to be proud of x

  7. Haha, you are so funny PPMJ, I would be exactly the same with the hoarding... if only we had the extra space to do it. You can never have too many pillowcases though :o)
Oh wishing you all the best for your gal's big day tomorrow. I'm sure it will be bittersweet for both of you in some ways. I can still remember my first day of high school and although I was scared witless, within days I was LOVING it! And really, I look back so fondly on those high school days. Exciting times Mama :o) xoxo

    1. You know the funny thing? I'm too anally-retentive to use non-matching pillowcases and sheet sets anyway - what DID I think I was going to do with them? On the bright side, my gal went off with her friends with a big smile. Also saw lots of other friends from ballet and netball so all's good. I didn't even cry! xx

  8. The pink was very cool! Pity it couldn't stay a bit longer ; ) Hope she had a great day & has an even better one today. Mine was oh-so-ready for high school and had a fantastic day yesterday - beamed from ear to ear! We'll see what today brings with the rest of the school back today as well...false sense of security yesterday with only yrs 7 & 10! I'm currently sorting through linen...who knew I had so many spare bits and pieces (!) & more to the point why?! Alison x

  9. I admire what you have done here. I love the part where you say you are doing this to give back but I would assume by all the comments that is working for you as well. Do you have any more info on this?
